Course Description

In this foundational module, students gain an understanding of military customs, courtesies, and traditions, equipping students with the knowledge to navigate and respect the unique culture of the United States military. The training offers practical guidance for effectively collaborating with military personnel. By the end of the course, students will be well-prepared to demonstrate proper decorum and respect within a military context, enhancing their professional interactions and operational efficiency

Learning Objectives

  • Articulate the purpose and significance of military protocol and diplomacy: Trainees will be able to clearly describe the foundational principles and critical importance of military protocol and diplomacy within the context of the United States military.
  • Identify key military customs, courtesies, and traditions: Trainees will be proficient in recognizing and understanding essential military customs, courtesies, and traditions, and their application in various scenarios.
  • List effective strategies for collaborating with the United States military: Trainees will be able to compile and utitlize a comprehensive set of best practices for effective collaboration and interaction with United States military personnel.

Measure of Performance

A 90% attendance rate is required of all participants and a 70% or above on all post-module quizzes. This course is strictly Pass/Fail. The Training Manager, in conjunction with the course facilitators, will observe and evaluate your participation, along with your quiz grades, to determine if you understand the material and if you pass or fail the course.

Course Requirements

Classes and all materials are presented in English. To ensure the best student experience, English language proficiency and basic computer skills are required.

PSOW's live, online courses are delivered using the Brightspace Learning Management System and Zoom. No software purchase is necessary. Students will be invited as guests from PSOW's accounts. Technical Requirements are as follows:
